How has covid 19 affected this show?

The Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District, the host and organizer of the annual Downtown West Allis Classic Car Show, regrets to announce it is cancelling this year’s show, originally scheduled for Sunday, October 4th.  This is the first time in the event’s thirty year history that it has had to cancel.  “We don’t take this decision lightly, but our main priority is the safety and health of our community, patrons, and volunteers,” said Dianne Eineichner, Executive Director of The Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District. “To be fair to all of those involved in the planning process, including our sponsors, vendors, and volunteers, we needed to make this decision. Due to the uncertainty of when hosting thousands of people in a six block area will again be considered safe, as well as the unpredictable schedules of all involved once we again reach that point, we feel it necessary to cancel the event rather than scale it down. A great deal of thought and discussion has gone into considering alternatives, but they are not feasible at this time.”

The coronavirus has impacted virtually every business and industry across the country, and numerous other events have also been cancelled. The health and safety of our employees, volunteers, vendors, sponsors and certainly our attendees are our highest priority to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

To make up for the loss of our two biggest events this year, Downtown West Allis Inc will be looking into host smaller, socially distant events throughout the remainder of 2020. We encourage everyone to follow West Allis Downtown BID for updates on these pop up events and keep up to date with business news.

The Downtown West Allis Business Improvement District will be reaching out to event sponsors, vendors and participants with more specifics.

Registration will open August 17, 2020. You will be able to register online or in person at Model Empire (7116 W Greenfield Avenue).

Does the event happen rain or shine?

Yes! The Downtown West Allis Classic Car Show goes on rain or shine. No refunds are given if you choose to not bring your vehicle.

Where can I park?

Free parking is available in the municipal lots behind all of the buildings on Greenfield Avenue. There is also street parking available north and south of the festival footprint.

Can I register my vehicle the day of the show?

No. In the past, when we had day of registration, there were numerous problems with traffic jams, people trying to sneak their vehicle into the show and take spots away from people that pre paid, and people trying to say they are with a car club they don't belong to in order to get a "better" parking space. Every car needs a receipt to get into the show.

Registration cut off is always the last Thursday in September. This gives our staff time to proof read all the information and print window cards on top of all over event prep.
This year's cut off date in Thursday, September 24, 2020.

What do i get for my registration fee?

Participants receive

  • A parking space in the show

  • A Commemorative Downtown West Allis Classic Car Show T-Shirt

  • A Goody Bag filled with items from our local businesses and sponsors

If for some reason you registered and are unable to attend the show, you can pick up your T-Shirt and Goody Bag the following two weeks after the show.

What Time Is check in? Why so early?

Car Clubs can check in between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM, individual cars can park between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM. All cars need to be in place before pedestrians can start walking in the street.

Can I bring a different car than the one I registered?

Yes, this happens more than you think! If the original car you registered is unable to get to the show and you have a different car you would like to show, you are welcome to enter it in it's place. When you arrive, you will need to get a new window card made at the check in table.

What do I do if i need to leave the show before 3 PM?

About 15 minutes before you have to leave, alert your block captain that you will need to get out. They will escort you through the crowd to the nearest exit.

How Does My Child Enter The West Allis Auto Club Hot Wheel Races?

You and your child can visit the West Allis Auto Club booth on the north side of 72nd and Greenfield before 12 Noon to sign up.

How do I become a vendor?

Due to the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak, the only vendors that will be allowed to be a part of this year's show are sponsors, previous food vendors, and DWA BID Businesses.
